If you like food seasoned with the sound of waves crashing on the beach and enhanced by the

caw of an occasional seagull, head to Avenue. Spacious, grand and airy, the restaurant is a

designer’s dream with every door, every window---ceiling to floor---allowing a glorious view of the

Atlantic Ocean. One of the new breed of serious Jersey Shore restaurants, Avenue makes a big

impression and it isn’t only the look of the place. The kitchen measures up with the contemporary

cooking by chef Dominique Filoni, who crafts dishes such as roasted medallions of monkfish with

white beans, Serrano ham and Manila clams in a saffron coulis; and potato-crusted halibut served

over New England clam chowder. The wine list is carefully chosen to match the seafood-accented

cuisine. The raw bar draws special attention with its petit and grande plateau---spectacular two- or

three-tiered platings that may hold such treasures as East or West Coast oysters, littleneck

clams, king crab legs, lobsters and caviar. Settle in. The place is so comfy you won’t want to

leave.
